Chenini is a fortified granary built by the Berbers between two hilltop ridges to protect the village from raiding parties. At first sight, Chenini appears to be an uninhabited ruined Berber village, however, there are still about 600 people who live in Chenini today.
The approach to this village is a scenic rollercoaster of small hills and turns, but the village only comes into focus after rounding the mountain bend. A series of neat rock and mud-brick houses climb up the hill, to a beautiful white mosque situated on a saddle between the two ridges, which is visible for miles.
